Spring Is Just Around the Corner

Hi there. I’ve been away from blogging for a few months for various reasons, and I hope you have been happy and healthy. On Thanksgiving night we made an offer on a new home. The process of buying a new house, moving, and then selling our old home was much more time consuming than I remember when we moved 25 years ago, but I was much younger then. Actually, the selling of our old house was a breeze because my son and daughter-in-law, who are expecting our first grandchild, a boy, in just a few days, wanted to buy it. It’s been fun helping them get settled in their new home, and I know they will be very happy there as they start their family. We are quite eager to meet Baby Boy!

These pansies were painted following a negative watercolor tutorial taught by Viv Cooper of Art with Viv. I’ve been following her for many years on Facebook and Instagram. She is a patient, encouraging instructor and explains clearly her process, and she keeps us students laughing with her sense of humor and quick wit.

I’m looking forward to seeing what kinds of flowers pop up as the weather warms. Currently, daffodil leaves are poking through the soil, and I’m hoping that some of the dormant bushes and trees in our new yard are flowering types. Spring holds promises of rebirth of our world and surroundings, an I’m feeling very hopeful and blessed.

Draw A Bird, April 2020

Hi friends. How is everyone doing? We are holding up well and distracting ourselves with some home projects, cooking, and jigsaw puzzles.

Today is the real Draw A Bird Day, even though many artists draw or paint a bird on the 8th of every month just for fun. Spring is here in full force and robins are hopping all around our backyard, so I thought it appropriate to honor them.

I pray that you and your families are safe and well, and I’m sending positive thoughts and love as we continue to shelter in place. Hopefully by next month’s Draw A Bird Day, we will be enjoying some normalcy to our days. Be well!

Hummingbird, #WorldWatercolorGroup

How lucky that hummingbird was the prompt today because it happens to be the official Draw-A-Bird Day 2017!   I tried to paint this hummingbird in flight but had some difficulty showing much movement.  Oh well, I think she is cute anyhow.

According to the hummingbird migration map website they have finally arrived in our area, but none has visited our feeders yet.  Hopefully we will see one within about a week or so.  Have they arrived near you?

Springtime

We have had lovely changes in weather lately as well as not-so-lovely thunderstorms with a bit of chill in the air, but that is what spring is all about.  I pulled out some long-loved Stampin Up stamps and punches to create this little bird card, and it reminds me so much of springtime.

Have a great weekend and try to get out to experience all the blossoms and renewal in your part of the world.

Welcome Spring!

Welcome to my blog and my first post!  Mostly this blog will encompass my love of papercrafting, but I am sure I will talk about things going on in my life from time to time.  We have had a long, cold winter so I thought I would post a picture of a very springy-looking card.  Hopefully it will help you feel a little bit of sunshine peaking out from behind the clouds.
