Rose Gardens

After practicing loose, freestyle watercolor roses for a couple of days, I had quite a “garden” of them to be made into greeting cards.

They are quite fun to paint, take shape quickly, and make an elegant presentation.

Here’s hoping we call can take time to smell the real roses today.  Happy Wednesday!

Bridal Shower

I made a handful of these cards for bridal showers I attend recently. From blue patterned paper I cut a 3-inch umbrella with my Cricut. The paper flowers are from Recollections; I added some Crystal Stickles on the petals and white opal Liquid Pearls for the center of the flowers.

A silver-edged ribbon by Martha Stewart was tied onto the umbrella handle. The sentiment is from Stampin Up. I love how bright and cheerful this card turned out.

Love is in the air

Man and Wife

Newly Married

Wow, it has been a while since I posted but we have been rather busy because my son and new daughter-in-law were married last Saturday! In my opinion the wedding was beautiful and everything went perfectly. The rehearsal and rehearsal dinner went smoothly, the weather behaved while outdoor pictures were taken, the wedding was gorgeous, and the reception was so much fun! I love this picture of them when they were pronounced man and wife – such happiness!

In the next few posts I will show you some of the cards I have made over the last year in honor of the many weddings we have attended since last fall. I have known many of these couples since they were freshmen in high school and love seeing them get married and start their lives together.

Below is the bridal shower invitation I made for my daughter-in-law’s shower. I tried to keep the aqua color consistent throughout all the cards I made for her along the way. I saw a similar card on Pinterest but of course had to add a little sparkle to it (it is easier to see the sparkle if you click on the photo and enlarge it). I drew the dress silhouette by hand and when I was finally pleased with it, I cut out a template from heavy chipboard. I traced and cut out all the dresses by hand. Then I stamped a pretty swirl with VersaMark and heat embossed with a sparkly iridescent powder. A simple snip of ribbon was wrapped at the waist. The sentiment is from Stampin Up and I used background paper in their wedding color. The newlyweds arrive home tomorrow and I can’t wait to hear all about their adventures in Antigua.

Lastly, while on the topic of love and weddings, yesterday was my parent’s 54th wedding anniversary.  Isn’t that incredible?   Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad.  I love you!
