Playful Dolphins

We recently returned from a beach vacation where we enjoyed watching the dolphins swimming not too far from the water’s edge.  This painting is based on a lesson from a Walter Foster book called The Art of Painting Sea Life in Watercolor, which has many enchanting sea life tutorials.

I took advantage of a rainy beach day to get to work and am happy with the results.  I hope these playful dolphins and their facial expressions make you smile.

  1. Beautiful Carol, you have a wonderful talent for telling a story. It looks like they are having so much fun. The expressions are making me smile. Thank you so much for sharing your work! I am sorry that it was rainy, but selfishly happy with the outcome!

  2. Who doesn’t love dolphins? And the colors you’ve used are gorgeous. It’s perfect. I love the sense of motions you’ve captured.
