National Chocolate Chip Day, #DoodlewashDinner

Today we have Chocolate Chip Cookies and coffee for dessert at the #DoodlewashDinner.

While today is dedicated only to the chocolate chip and not the cookie, they certainly go hand in hand.  We have Ruth Wakefield of the Toll House Inn to thank for the first chocolate chip cookie baked in 1937, and since that day most established bakers claim to have formulated their own BEST recipe for chocolate chip cookies.

These little flat-bottomed, tear-shaped chips were first made from semi-sweet chocolate.  To my knowledge they are now also available in milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, mint chocolate, butterscotch, and peanut butter varieties, but that’s stretching it because the last two are not even made from chocolate.  At any rate, cookies are much tastier with the addition of chocolate chips, and that’s something to celebrate!

  1. Yum! I don’t usually make cookies because uh, I eat too many of them! But your cookie doodlewash is making me start the mixer! Good work, Carol! 💕🍪😄
