Today I offer you a slice of blueberry pie in honor of this national holiday. Blueberries are considered one of the world’s healthiest foods. Each is an amazing source of antioxidants, vitamin K, vitamin C, and fiber, and blueberries promote heart and brain health among other good things.
An interesting fact is that blueberry pie is the official dessert of the state of Maine, which makes sense because their official fruit is a blueberry. Who knew states have official desserts? Curiously I googled Ohio’s official state dessert, but alas we do not seem to have one. We are also slighted because our official state fruit is a tomato. What? A tomato? Oh well, our farmers grow pretty awesome tomatoes here in the summer, but I don’t think tomato pie sounds very appealing for dessert. Do you want that with or without whipped cream? HA! Happy National Blueberry Pie Day!
This is a scrumptiously delightful doodlewash!! Love it, Carol! 😍Very well done… I know this because my mouth began to water. hehe… I’m thinking this might be the day I celebrate too. Blueberry Pie is one of my favorites!! 😊
I love blueberries…where’s that whipped cream? (K)
Ha! Tomato pie does not sound appealing to me either…lol! But a slice of your blueberry pie – yes, please! Looks delish, Carol!!! 🙂
Beautiful job, Carol, and you and Charlie are making me hungry!! 😀
Thanks, Laura!
Thanks, Jill!
Thanks, Charlie! Blueberries are delish no matter what they are in, but pie is one of the best!
Mmm… juicy tomatoes in the main meal, then blueberry pie for dessert! Your pie looks delicious :-).
Now THAT sounds delish! 😃
Thanks Carol! 💕😃Haha! Yes!!! I totally agree… blueberries make anything good… but in a dessert it’s definitely something special. Hehe
Love blueberry pie!!
